Directions and Advisories

Are you coming to us from Tennessee?  From Bristol TN??  You’ll see Hwy. 421 on the map. HWY 421 is known as the Striped Snake because of its EXCESSIVE CURVES – Hwy. 421 between Bristol and Mountain City—while a federally numbered highway—-is rather narrow and very curvy. It’s a great road for motorcyclists. It isn’t fun for people driving minivans or sedans. Contrary to GPS, it takes the same amount of time to come to the Inn via Damascus, VA or Elizabethton, TN.

Hwy. 421 from Bristol is NOT recommended after dark, in the snow, when you are tired, or if you tend to get car sick.

If you LOVE curves, take the road! Here’s a link to a terrific video of half of it LINK via motorcycle.

HWY. 321 SOUTH OF BLOWING ROCK – Construction is nearly complete to widen this road all the way to Blowing Rock, NC.

Trivia: Copperhead Road is within 15 min. of the inn. Here’s a video AND the original song: LINK
